Manno Charlemagne-Liberation.

Manno (Emmanuel) Charlemagne is a former politician and a lifelong political activist. He is well known for his lyric-driven French and Creole Haitian political folk songs. He had the courage to sing against the notorious dictator President Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier, responsible for 30,000 political killings. He had lived abroad twice in exile, during the 1980's and again in 1991-94. Once he was arrested and tortured before taking refuge in Argentine embassy. He was released on the advice to play innocent songs. He was elected mayor of Port-au-Prince between 1991 and 1999 with support of J.B. Aristide's political party. Once you hear his album "Liberation", it will open your eyes; hatred won't let you feel to support any politician. Every Saturday and Thursday at 8:30 pm you can find him performing at 'Tip Tap Restaurant' in Miami's South Beach.
