Long-time friend of Michel Martelly, guitarist Alex Tropnaz

Michel Martelly is the most powerful man in Haiti. But before he became president, Martelly was a former musician under the name "Sweet Micky" and was very popular and good at it. His music career spans for about twenty decades where he was able to release more than ten Kompa music albums. Martelly was a vocalist, a drummer, and a keyboardist and also used to own a club before being active in politics and eventually becoming Haiti's head of state

Alex Tropnaz is a renowned Haitiain guitarist that worked with Martelly since the late 1980s. Aside from being a guitar player, he was also a composer and music arranger. Their collaboration is best remembered in the 1995 music album Pa Manyen. It featured Tropnaz on guitars for the songs' "Pa Manyen" and its live version, "Jungle", "Prezidan", "Pou Kisa", and "Zan Mi" while Martelly was on vocals and drums.

The end of Martelly's music career to become the president of Haiti did not mean the end of his long collaboration with Alex Tropnaz as they apparently share an interest in governance and public service. In September 2011, ten new delegates for Haiti's ten departments were appointed, including the guitarist who is now Nippes Department's delegate. Nippes is Haiti's youngest department in the South and is need of more developments which will hopefully be accomplished within both Martelly and Tropnaz's term in government office.
