Suzanna Lubrano's Lasting International Appeal

Zouk artist Suzanna Lubrano, barely out of her teens, came to the attention of the record-buying public when she began singing with Rabelados in 1996. Their first issue, Sukuro, began opening doors for Suzanna, who many record executives thought could have greater success as a solo artist.

She began releasing several singles during the latter half of the 90s and early 2000s. The music industry's faith in her talent and drawing appeal was affirmed in 2003 when she captured Best African Female Artist for the first time, winning the top honor again in the Online category in 2010.

Her career began building momentum in 2008, and she achieved international acclaim by 2011. Her biggest hit, "Festa Mascarado", became a global phenomenon, especially in Angola where it landed on the Top Ten Hits Chart. The song also snagged Suzanna two awards at the Cabo Verde Music Awards in 2011.

Suzanna resides in the Netherlands, home of one of her biggest fan bases world-wide. She has achieved several chart toppers on FunX Radio there, as well as number-one hits on MTV.

In 2009, on a wave of acclaim for her concert performances, her record company released her CDs to both European and U.S. distribution markets. Her record sales in South American and African markets have netted her Gold- and Platinum-album status.

As a 15-year music-industry veteran, she has recorded with some of the biggest names, beginning with the iconic Michael Jackson, Gwen Stephani, Dave Stewart, Prince, and Ne-Yo.
