Brothers Posse of Don kato, Kanaval 2014, Show Show net

Don Kako just released its 2014 Kanaval, Show Show Net. The release took place this Sunday, February 2nd, in Radio Caraibes. Don kato in an interview at Radio Caraibes on Sunday January 2nd released its Kanaval for 2014.

Will they give him a "Sha" this year?. Based on the message on his Kanaval 2014, that is likely not to happen.

Haiti Carnival Season

Carnival in Haiti is the most anticipated cultural annual event in the country and is held every year over several weeks that lead up to the climax on Mardi Gras. The main annual carnival or Mardi Gras is held at Port-au Prince and it is known as "Haitian Defile Kanaval' in Haitian Creole. The 'parade' is known as 'defile' in Creole. It is traditionally celebrated two weeks prior to Lent, the Christian fast. Beside the main carnival, many other smaller celebrations are held in Aux Cayes, Jacmel and other parts in Haiti throughout the year. The carnivals in Haiti are full of dance, song, parade, drink, food, art and colorful costumes with many noticeable characteristics and symbolic meanings. It is the time when people express themselves through their traditional pre-Christian beliefs and practices drawn from elements of the African and French customs. Haitian carnivals are cultural glue that holds people together.

'Rara' is one of the traditional carnivals different from main pre-Lent Kanaval celebrations with Haitian root from "an deyò" rural area. It is a week-long celebration during the Catholic Holy week, celebrated at the end of Lent with musical procession that takes place during the day or sometime in the night during Lent. Rara is a form of Voodoo festival music used for street processions where songs are performed in Haitian Creole. 'Flower Carnival' or 'Kanaval de Fleur' is celebrated in the summer in July. 'Koudyay' is one form of spontaneous celebration similar to other carnivals which was originally started under government patronage. The Haitian dictator François Duvalier introduced this festival in Haiti to distract people's attention from country's economic and political problems. Jacmel Carnival is a popular festival which takes place a week earlier in February or March.

The Haitian government has decided to stage Haitian National Carnival event in a different major city every year.
